Animal care is in compliance with the company internal rules – SOPs, arising from the Czech legislation and international standard guidelines and regulations.

Ethical Codex of Welfare

Laboratory animals are used exclusively for research and development of pharmaceutical products designed for veterinary medicine.

Domestic and farm animals are included in experiments when they are target species for the test item in question.

All studies are subject to an approval of the Committee of Experts for Ensuring the Welfare of Animals established in our company as well as of the Department of Animal Commodities of Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. This includes authorizing the use of animals for experimental study.

Whenever approved alternative methods are available for a type of a study, animals are not used in the study.

When the type of a given study permits, the number of animals included is reduced to the minimum in accordance with the principles of “Three Rs” – Replacement, Reduction and Refinement of animals in experiments.

All the staff is periodically trained in subjects of animal behavior, animal breeding and welfare regulations. All workers coming into contact with animals are holding a certificate under section 15 of the Act 246/1992 Coll. as amended.

Stables fulfill the welfare regulations for each category of animals and are tailored to the individual category of animals (cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, poultry, etc.).

Environmental conditions are monitored in each stable and systems of environmental condition regulation are installed.

All animals are under daily veterinary inspection and care.
